If you disturb a fire ant mound, these insects will move quickly to “defend” their territory, and be warned that they attack in groups. Chances are that you won’t get a SINGLE fire ant sting as they crawl onto your arms or legs…you‘ll get MANY stings. This happens quickly, before you are able to smack and swat them off your body. Each ant can also sting/bite multiple times (oh, great!).

Fire ant stings are known to hurt, so there will be an initial, sharp pain when stung. The affected area can also become red and swollen, looking almost like hives. Once attacked, quickly apply Fire Out, a unique roll-on formula that combines powerful medicine to fight the pain and itch for immediate relief. You can reapply Fire Out up to four times daily, as needed.

If a typical reaction occurs, as time passes, small bumps will develop that are itchy where each fire ant inflicted its sting. These bumps will eventually become small pustules filled with fluid. This is normal and these should not be popped. To avoid scarring and infection, don’t pick, itch or scratch at your skin because you can also invite secondary infection. Continue to apply Fire-Out for the itching and let the reaction run its course. Just don’t scratch! Pull out the oven mitts if you need them (Fire Out should be enough though).

If the affected area swells, ice the stings on and off (15 minutes on and 15 minutes off) without applying ice directly to your skin. Use an ice pack or ice wrapped in a towel. Apply cool compresses only. Anything hot will irritate the area further.

Although a severe reaction to fire ants is rare, if you get hives, nausea, dizziness or swelling of the mouth, or experience other symptoms of anaphylaxis, call 911 immediately. If you have a severe allergy, carry an autoinjectable epinephrine device at all times.

Fire Out delivers instant, on-contact pain and itch relief from fire ant stings so it’s important to have handy if you will be outdoors in fire ant territory. The maximum strength dual-action formula includes benzocaine that acts as a topical anesthetic to alleviate the pain, while menthol reduces the itch from the stings. The handy roll-on formula is perfect for on-the-go.

Fire Out is exclusively available at select Tractor Supply stores in Florida, as well as nationally on  Amazon.com.
